WAN отложил проведение 62-го Всемирного газетного конгресса в Индии в связи с финансовым кризисом
Как сообщает Lenta.ru, конгресс должен был состояться в индийском городе Хайдарабад 22-25 марта текущего года. Как сообщил представитель организации, мероприятие перенесено более поздний срок. Возможно, конгресс состоится в конце ноября.
Ассоциация со штаб-квартирой в Париже объединяет 18 тыс. газет и новостных агентств из ста стран. В этом году было подано всего 250 заявок на участие в конгрессе, хотя обычно форум WAN собирал около 1,5 тыс. представителей СМИ.

Dear Member,
I regret to inform you that we have been obliged to postpone our 62nd World Newspaper Congress and 16th World Editors Forum in Hyderabad, India, until later in the year
The economic crisis has had a devastating effect on participation in the events, which are simply not viable at this stage.
Our belief is that newspaper companies will, by necessity, learn to live with the crisis over the year and will be more willing to invest again in conferences and travel by the end of 2009.
We are currently in talks to fix new dates in the period 30 November-3 December. The exact new schedule will be confirmed shortly.
In the meantime, we have rescheduled the next meetings of the Board and the Committee of Directors, together with our Annual General Meeting, for Saturday 30 May next in Barcelona, Spain, with dinner on the previous evening. I shall be writing to you in due course with practical details for the new arrangements.
We hope you may want to attend two WAN conferences taking place in Barcelona from 27 to 29 May: our new Power of Print conference (http://www.wan-press.org/powerofprint2009/home.php) and the World Newspaper Advertising Conference (http://www.wan-press.org/barcelona2009/home.php).
