Набір учасників тренінгів в рамках програми «Real Media Literacy for a Fake News World»U.S. Embassy in Ukraine in collaboration with Newseum (interactive museum of news, the part of the Freedom Forum Institute) are supporting a nationwide pilot Program: “Real Media Literacy for a Fake News World”, which will be held from January to May 2019. Program participants will have the opportunity to improve their English skills while learning more about the role mass media plays in modern society. The Program is designed to inform audiences about media literacy and how to be better informed about modern media. The English level of the Program is approximately B1 on the European Common Framework of Reference scale. The “Real Media Literacy for a Fake News World” Program will focus on identifying misinformation and disinformation, and promote media literacy education for multiple audiences, including youth, educators, community leaders, and news professionals. Connecting to the U.S. communities of interest will allow all participants to share expertise, work together to develop media literacy strategies, engage in mentorship, and build mutual understanding between the countries for greater resiliency to organize disinformation efforts. The program includes three components over the course of 6 months: one in-person training in Kyiv, webinars and a specialized virtual exchange for teachers and students (those participants joining the virtual exchange will need basic English level fluency). We are seeking participants with fluent English include ECA alumni, media professionals, community leaders, educators and students. 90 participants will be selected to represent different groups of stakeholders: media professionals, community leaders, educators and students. On January 22-24, 2019, the selected participants will be invited to in-person training in Kyiv. The training will be held in the premises of America House. The in-person training will be conducted by the Newseum’s Education Team. Compensation for travel expenses and accommodation is not provided. On February – April 2019 the selected participants will be invited to series of webinars and virtual exchange with U.S. experts. Following completion of the Program, participants will receive a project Certificate. The project is administered in Ukraine by the public organisation “Ukrainian Center for Civic Initiatives” Svitlo” (www.gosvitlo.org.ua).
